Inspire Me Thursday- Abstract

Theme for this week: Abstract

This is about as abstract as I can go. I enjoy all forms of art, but actually doing abstract art left me on the verge of being very uncomfortable. But, I’m actually very pleased with this trio. They are 7 x 7 acrylic on canvas. I went around the art shops looking for square canvases and could not believe how expensive they are!! So home I went to rummage through the garage and our wood stash. I found a 72 inch 1×2 strip of wood that Ry-daddy cut up for me into pieces and I found some canvas in my fabric stash. Add a little gesso, some paint and there you have it. An abstract dragonfly trio.

I made them to go horizontally, but found an empty place in my hallway and hung them vertically instead. They still look great together. I’d take a picture but the lighting is horrible in my hallway right now. Dragonflies symbolize good fortune. Hopefully some home buyers will feel the good fortune of our house and want to buy it. Lowering the price 10 grand otta help too! Everyone keep your fingers crossed!

I know what you mean about discomfort with abstract art – I experienced the same thing. Nonetheless, you’ve created three wonderful pieces, and i’m sure they look great on yor wall! I actually think it’s a fun game for the eye to connect the pictures when they’re hung vertically. These colors are so bright and happy, and i love the whole idea of good fortune. I do hope your house will sell soon, and at a good price!

Don’t worry, abstract art covers a whole multitude of sins so it is really up to you how you interpret it (IMHO!). These are great paintings, bright and sunny, let’s hope they bring you good fortune!

  5. I love things in three! These are wonderful and maybe I should paint a dragonfly too?? Bummer about having to lower the price. We are giving it till the end of the month before we make that move. Its so hard to just THROW 10k in the toilet.
Sigh, I really, really wish you the best of luck and hope you find a buyer soon.

It’s lovely how you played with the similar image in different ways. The blue line really connects the three paintings. Beautiful!
