So now we have moved on to our very teeny master bathroom. It has basically been a empty closet with pipes for the last year. When we moved in, it had brown tile that looked like it had been done by a kid (actually, my own kid could have done a better job). Not only did it look bad, with chipped tiles and a very poor grout job, it was structurally unstable. Had we not torn out all the tile, we would have had broken shower-floor tiles and a leaky shower pan- not good.
The walls were bad too. I don’t know if you can see in the top pictures, but the wall had been “texturized”. There were big messy clumps and dried-up drips of plaster by the ceiling. It was horrible. I scraped and spread an smooth layer of joint compound to even it all out, then painted a pail shade of low VOC blue paint to brighten it up.
We still have to grout everything, fix the light fixture, add wainscoting and get the sink, cabinet and toilet, but already it feels bigger, brighter and so, so much better.
Wow! That’s a real nice transformation – and it isn’t even done yet!
I like it already! I’m curious for the final results. I think it’s going to be very beautiful! I like the small blue tiles! Great colour and a great variation with the bigger white tiles.
