Trail Training

Yesterday the hubby and I (with the little one in tow) went on a beautiful 6.5 mile hike in the mountains close to our home.  The high altitude (7900-8300 ft) and the very steep upward climb almost killed me. Today, my legs and derriere are feeling the very, very sore effects.  I am sure that this is the hardest hike we’ve been on in quite a while.  From start to finish, it took us three and a half hours to complete.

Why  would we do this madness, you ask?  We are “training” for a hike into the Grand Canyon in October and want to be very prepared and fit. Sleeping bags and new hiking shoes have been bought and hiking packs and tent taken out of storage. We even ordered vegan camp food. We will conquer the canyon!!

Have a wonderful weekend!!
