Relax~ZINE

These little zines were made for Nikkishell’s zine swap.  They went out in the mail over a week ago to 15 other participants all over the world.

I had a very hard time trying to pinpoint my focus for this little zine.  Finally, I asked myself, “What are you really into right now?”  My most recent interest, which I have not shared much of, has been herbal remedies and natural health care (tea, soaks, essential oils, yoga, meditation etc).  I’ve always been into this sort of thing, but lately it has re-appeared as a renewed and flowering bloom making a huge presence in my life.

Being a nurse, this is quite the opposite of what modern medicine currently preaches.  Sadly, I am growing weary of caring for people who have no interest in caring for themselves and only want remedies in the form of pills or unnecessary surgeries.  I could go on and on about the countless issues of health care in the US, but it would be lengthy and probably boring.  Instead, I like to focus of the well being of me and my family (and anyone interested in trying to avoid the vicious cycle that is our health care system).

So born from this idea came my little zine.  It’s full of things I do to keep myself centered (which is most challenging when I am at work).   It helps too.  I would have quit being a nurse long ago if I had no way to cope with the stress.

I thought I’d offer this to you as well.  The zine is notecard size, roughly 4 x 5.5 inches (11 x 14 cm) with 12 pages – some art, exercises, recipes and yogi tea. Use the drop box to pick US/Canada OR International.  The price seen includes shipping & handling.

Update:  Sold out.  (thanks so much!!)

We continue to have so much in common. I am trying (working on) re-incorporating yoga back into my life. I too am very focused on natural ways to boost my immunity through teas, food/diet and mental outlook. I just purchased the zine and look forward to seeing your thoughts! I truly love the “look” of your work. You have a unique point of view in your drawings, I very much like it!

Too bad you’re sold out– I’m definitely way more interested in natural remedies than going to the doctor. (Especially since my work situation has left me basically uninsured since I finished grad school!) If you ever feel the whim to print up any more, do let us know.

  8. What a beautiful zine! Adding the bag of yogi tea is such a nice addition. What a talent you are, I can see why it sold out so quickly!
