Those hands

Oh, Frida. Look at those hands (earrings too).  Beautiful, passionate, creative.  You are quite amazing to me.

I picked up a little Frida notecard at an awesome indie craft shop here in town called Popcycle, then used the photo of Frida to create this little wall hanging.  Everyone needs a little Frida in there life, don’t you think?

The photo is mounted on a small wood plaque, then that is mounted onto decopauged cardboard, which is then mounted onto crinkled tin.  Of course I had to gussy it all up with beads, words and teeney bit of bling.  To honor Frida, of course.

This is beautiful! I love the way you framed it and included the beads… it’s stunning:) I had the very good fortune to have been in SF last summer while the Frida exhibit was going on at the SF MOMA… OMG – just amazing! It was worth the hours we waited in line. I had to laugh at your LEGO post:) That’s the price you pay for having boys… My son (now 26) had trillions of LEGOs and micro machines and transformers and little things with wheels and parts. I had to always look down before I stepped in case I landed on something. I’ll bet they make some very cool creations!

Hah! I just finished a long post and then it disappeared. I’ll try again… I love this piece – so stunning the way you framed it and added the beads. I had the good fortune to have been in SF last summer while the Frida exhibit was at the SF MOMA… it was so amazing and totally worth the hours we waited in line to get in! As for your post about the LEGOs – that’s the price you pay for having boys. My son (now 26) had what seemed like trillions of LEGOs, micro machines, transformers, little dinosaurs, etc… and I would always have to watch my step in case I landed on a stray object. I’ll bet your guys make some very cool creations!

I love this! I just used this same photo as inspiration for a piece in my journal. The prompt was to use an altered photo, so I used one with my son and me. I altered it to make us resemble Frida and Diego. My son thought it was funny; my husband hated it. The unibrow bothered him — I guess the earrings would have put him over the edge.

I had missed this post when I saw your neat thrifting finds. Anyway, I love Frida Kahlo and your tribute to her. Beautiful.

Oh, and I tagged you in a bloggy meme over at Green Mamma. When you get a moment, stop on by. =)
