My mum had a great solution, she had this old tablecloth which was huge and round and she had a cord threaded through the edge so that when she tightened the cord she had a huge sack.

We'd sit on the opened sack and play lego and at the end of the day we just had to tighten it up and all the lego was put away in the sack.

Ah yes, Lego's...the bane of my foot's existance, yet the love of my son's play life!

Pair some Legos up with some tape, and I won't see my son for hours!

I, too, can relate to this. I've tried relegating the bedrooms to be 'Lego Havens', but somehow, these little pieces and Lego men sneak into and take up residence in other parts of our house. And boy, do they hurt when you step on them with bare feet!

too funny! Same thing over here! What kills me, is the kids room has an oriental, so no matter how painstakingly long I spend examining the carpet I always vacuum up some little piece...and I have a Dyson, so I can see the $$$ being sucked up. I have even found a piece or two in my bed!

When my husband was young he had his Lego stored in large crates wrapped up in a bedsheet. When he wanted to play, he spread the sheet on the floor. All Lego had to stay on the sheet. Once he was done, he picked the sheets up at all four corners, gave the bundle a twist at the top and everything was packed away. He still uses his Lego and it is still in the same sheets.

How timely! We just had Lego meltdown today! I threatened to pack them all up and take them to Nana's. What we're going to try is keeping loose ones on baking sheets while using them and everything goes back in the "tub." Precious inventions and vehicles can live on a shelf on the baking sheets when not in use. Any little renegades found on the floor go into "time out." We'll see how long that lasts. I do appreciate them, just not everywhere.

My boys and I (and now our nephews) play with these things for hours. A few years back we designated a sheet for our legos. The sheet gets spread out on the floor and all the legos goes on the sheet. This way tiny pieces are not everywhere and when we are done, we grab the corners of the sheet and lift the legos back to the two large totes we use to store them in. We have many happy weekends with all these tiny pieces!

My son, who will be 33 next month, still plays with legos! He has also sold bunches on ebay. Need I even mention that he is single?

I was thrifting a little bit in Tucson today too, but didn't find any linens or fabric at all. I confess I was hungry and in a hurry to get home for a very late lunch. Your stuff looks very cool! (in reference to your posting above)

My 19 year old will not give up any of his Legos and has some of his better creations stored on the high shelf in his room. When I look at them it brings back memories of great afternoons when both boys were young.
