caterpillar book

Like our caterpillar book?  Made it with my I-guy.  He LOVES Eric Carle’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar book and he wanted to make his own version.  See the leaf with little egg?

Originally, I was trying to remember how to join square pieces of paper so that it folded into a little book.  I had made these when I was little (grade school).  Once I figured it out, I put I-guy to work decorating it.

He loves doing projects like this and was very happy to oblige. Especially because I opened up my art supply box. He really loves getting into the art supplies.

We very carefully and slowy wrote our own story.  We read it often and he has been ever so pleased to share his book with anyone who will look.

LOVE it! This is a favorite book at our house, and we cook in Hungry Caterpillar aprons, and the preschool just made a “very healthy caterpillar” with different food choices! Will you do a tutorial on folding that book?

    Little Arabella Miller
    had a hairy caterpiller
first she put it on her mother
    then upon her baby brother
    both said – Arabelle Miller
    take away your caterpiller.

  6. What a great job you both did. This is a fav here too. So much so that the book got a bit abused. I need to get a new one.

  7. What a fun book! My daughter’s name is Addy, so we read about the “Addypiller” around here 🙂

  8. OK, technically, it should be spelled “Addypillar” 🙂

This is a cute project for kids, sweet. You my friend, are a jack of all crafts! I see you are knitting too..I love to knit. Some of that yarn looks familiar. I’m so glad you are having fun with it.
Please share where you got the pattern for the red ruffly coat you made it’s sweet.

    • Thanks Ahrisha. Glad you noticed your pretty yarn. It has been very fun to play with. I am “trying” to knit. And, the wrap I made has no pattern. I winged it, but am trying to make a real pattern with modifications. Cheers!
