Sewing on my mind

I think I have made amends with my sewing machine.  I’ve had a huge stack of patterns that have been calling  my name, keeping me up at night, so I finally sat down to make something. See my Stitch magazine in there too? I’ve been reading that as well, getting inspired to make pillows.  It is such a great issue. So many great people and projects are in it.

First on the list of sewing projects were some pajamas. Pretty ones. It’s been on my list to start wearing pretty PJs for a while now. Usually I wear an old tshirt and boxers :). I was actually inspired by these pretty ones.  I made mine from an old vintage sheet I had. I think I will make more since I do have a pretty large collection of vintage sheets.  I used simplicity pattern # 9505, but I could have probably used & modified 3835 or 4177 (which I already had), but those $1.99 pattern sales at JoAnn’s get me every time. Plus, the bottoms turned out perfect.

I had to smile about your ‘pretty’ pyjamas. Many years ago now, I asked my mum why she didn’t wear pretty nighties. Those she wore were more suited to my grandma!

She gave me a ‘sideways’ look – ‘too encouraging’ she said – and she actually sniffed.

Mum could be so unintentionally funny and I miss that.
