I bought some little wood disks a while back, having no idea what I would do with them. Then I was inspired by embroidered bits of wood out there in blogidy-land. Like this, and this and these(scroll down).
So,I dug up my little dremel tool and used the smallest bit I could find to make the holes. The needle and thread fit perfectly through. Unfortunately this was a late night idea, fueling me with creative adrenaline and keeping me up way too late. Now I can make buttons, earring, pendants, brooches, rings. Eeeks!
