We had a beautiful time in the canyon. It’s a magical place, you know. No electricity, no phone, no computer. Just lots of fresh air, beautiful scenery, wildlife, sun and stars.
Our group kind of fell apart at the last minute leaving just me and the hubby on our own. It didn’t stop us. We hiked down, set up camp and enjoyed being alone, together. Bliss! We didn’t want to leave.
We hike down on Thursday, which is a 7 mile hike down on the South Kaibab trail to Phantom Ranch. We set up camp at Bright Angel campground and stayed two nights and one day. On Saturday morning we hiked out Bright Angel Trail which is 9 miles up and out. Exhausting, but worth every step.
Next time we go (in a few years) we’re taking the kids. I can’t wait to show them this magnificent place in person.
WOW! I can’t believe that…we’re going to the South Rim hiking down Bright Angel and camping at Phantom Ranch in just a couple of weeks…I can’t wait…
WOW !!! What a wonderful video. Thank-you so much for putting it together. Can’t wait to hear all about your amazing trip.
OK, being originally from AZ, this is something I’ve always wanted to do but have been a little scared. I’m kinda scared of heights and I’ve always lumped the GC in with that. Did you hike down with all your stuff? Did it ever make you nervous (ie were you ever close to the edge)?
That video is really, really great!
Oh, Regina, thank you so much for taking me there with you in that video! I hope to make it there myself someday. Those views are so breathtaking, and I am so astounded by those deer. And that bridge! Great, great footage!
I watched your Grand Canyon video. It’s so beautiful there. One day we’ll make our way there. The switch back trails were insane. They reminded me of hte switch back trails on Moloka’i where we used to live. That is some serious hiking. The deer were also quite majestic.
