I’ve always struggled with decorating my fireplace mantel. I’ve got it covered for Christmas and Halloween, but the rest of the year, I really don’t know what to do with it. So, right now, all that is on it is this Flora inspired painting which I did a few days ago. (I would love to take a class with Flora someday, btw).
I might revisit the painting later, not sure if it is done yet, but I’ve re-painted over this 22″ x 28″ canvas three or four times. I had to repaint it when my little guys weren’t looking. They get very attached to everything I make. If something new appears or disappears, that is okay, but there will be no squirting of gesso all over a painting without major protest.
Anyway, I’d love to make some changes to my fireplace like THIS someday. If only I can talk the hubby into it.
What?!?!? You cover up your old paintings? I would seriously protest, too!!!

This is perfect for your mantel… such a lovely piece. :]
I would have to protest too, no need to gesso over this work of art!!
Beautiful painting! I saw Flora’s article and paintings in CPS and am inspired to try one too. I’ve bought the canvas, now to find the time!
