I’ve always had an unfortunate tendency to carry stress in my shoulders and back. Whenever I feel tense about a situation or person for an extended period, I can feel it build up and up until I can hardly bear it.
My shoulders feel like triple knots, shooting small bolts of pain down my right arm, head and lower back. Ugh!!
The minute I walk into my home though, half of my pain melts away and I can feel my body sigh in relief. I open up my art journal and a teeny bit more dissolves away as I get lost in colors and shapes. I am so happy I made time for this over the last few days.
Tomorrow, I’m taking the day off work to do a bit more self care. A long session of yoga for my back, time with my beautiful guys and an appointment with a massage therapist (a much needed gift from my hubby). I have a big week coming up and I want and need to be in tip-top shape.
Your pages are gorgeous! Love the golden light in the dark-haired girls face, the swing of the other girls skirt, and the combination of colors in the heart. I don´t think people who don´t art, know what a stress-relief it can be. Wishing you the best for a stress-free week, Regina!
regina,
i hold mine in my shoulders too:) agreed on the art melting it away. I can not believe i did not do journaling before artfest, what was i thinking?! YES to the massage! My sister just surprised me too and purchased me one. We are both going to be nice and relaxed for some fun next week(can’t wait to see you!!!)

Sorry to hear about your stress ~ I hold mine in my shoulders as well. Taking care of yourself is a great thing!
I hear ya! I’m the same exact way and sewing for hours doesn’t help it. Well…enjoy your day off and that hub of yours is pretty awesome for getting you a massage! I love the colors you used on the third portrait the pink and blue together really pop!
nice painting
You should make this journal into a book I LOVE it!
I have back pain for the same reason…
AND yoga and painting are also how I relieve stress 🙂 These images are beautiful. I’m so happy I found your blog. I love the paintings you mix with inspirational quotes.
