beaded crocheted bracelet video tutorial

I love the look of these bracelets. The turquoise & brown is my favorite, of course. I really love the mixture of color and bead shapes and sizes. All of them feel like summer to me. Maybe because of the colors I chose or the crocheted “twine” look. I don’t know, but they need to be worn when you are out at the beach or out playing in the sun. They would make cute anklets too!

This is a great road trip project too!Β  Just make sure to string your beads at home first, so you are not dealing with run-away beads.

Supplies:
a really long length of 3-ply waxed linen thread (at least 3 yards)
various beads (seed beads size 11/0)
1 button
crochet hook, size 5

Things you might want to know:

* T0 find out how long your bracelet needs to be, measure your wrist and add 1/2″-3/4″ for each time you want it wrapped around your wrist.

* It is best to find a good fitting bracelet you already own and use that as a guide.

* The purple bracelet is almost 34 inches long and wraps around my wrist 5 times.

Please leave any questions in the comments. Thanks for watching!

Thank you for putting together this video! I really like the idea of making the button clasp – it’s much easier (and cuter) than attaching a standard jewelry clasp.

Where can I get the 3 ply waxed linen thread without ordering on the internet? I’ve tried Michaels and JoAnn’s but no luck they have never heard of it or really didn’t care that for that matter. I really want to make these with my Granddaughter!

Thank you so much! This was exactly what I was looking for! I love that this style can dress up rather ordinary looking beads AND keeps faceted higher quality beads from looking too fussy. A great way to make casual-chic jewelry. Awesome “how to” video.

  38. Vicki Davidson says:

I loved ur video on crocheting beads. It was very easy to follow. The material is difficult for me to handle. The thread is difficult to manipulate. Maybe I just need more practice, but I need help! Can u give me some tips? Also, is the re some kind of magic to threading those beads? Are there any special tools like a needle or something to thread the ones with tiny holes? Any advice you may have would be welcomed. Thanks!

    • Regina Lord says:

      Hi Vicki,
Just make sure you are using 3-ply waxed linen, which should be thin and flexible. Anything thicker will be difficult to work with. The waxed linen also makes it easier to thread the beads, because the wax makes a nice point at the end of the thread. I have put a link in the post on which waxed linen I like best.

If you are using regular embroidery floss, you may need to split it in half to 3 strands instead of 6. There are also beading needles that are ultra thin for working with small beads which can be found at a bead or craft shop.

      Hope that helps some.

  39. Diane says:

thank you for the great tutorial! very cute bracelet!

  40. Sharon says:

Your bracelets are beautiful, it’s exactly what I’m looking for, but how do you attached leather at each end for the button closure. Google “mermaid multi wrap crochet and leather bracelet” to see what i mean. Thank you
