I really love hanging wreaths on the front door because it really spices up the look of our simple, cozy home.
Since we don’t have a lot of trees with changing leaves, and it is still too hot to really even feel like autumn, I decided to make my own leaves out of paper grocery bags.
I’ve done this before, when I made a autumn leaf garland, so the process is pretty much the same. This time, I didn’t dilute the paint (acrylic craft) and I added a some shimmering gold and copper paints. I also painted both sides of the paper.
Then I cut a bunch of leaf (24) and petal shapes (18 – 6 per flower). I wrapped two leaves at a time with wire to secure them to a wire hanger that I fashioned into a loop (sort of like THIS). You can then make the flowers using one of these great tutorials, which are also fastened to the hoop with wire.
I love having this splash of autumn colors on my door! Makes me so happy 🙂
