Illustration Friday-Wedding

Thursday, September 20th, 2007

I am still recovering from a three day stint of H-E double-toothpicks at the other place I occupy a lot of my time. I’d love to go into details, but that’s all I can say about that.

Anyway, I tried finishing up my prizes today, but I was so tired that I was sewing zippers on the bottom of bags! I mostly seam ripped. Argh!!

So, instead I’m sharing these two paintings. The IF word for last week was wedding and I got to thinking about it and realized that I never shared these paintings that I made for my sisters wedding last year.

The first one was used as invites and the second for thank you cards. I scanned them, added words digitially and then had them printed out. They turned out really great.  Someday I plan to have them framed so that I can give them to her.  Can you believe I haven’t done that yet?  Slacker through and through.  She’s been married for over a year now.  I’m missing her now and love her oh so muchly!

After this weekend, I will officially be a part-timer.  YEAH!!!  I am going to make a huge effort to do at least one IF and one Inspire Me Thursdays every month.  I miss it.

Tomorrow: E-mails to my prize winners (I haven’t forgotten) and finished prizes!

Illustration Friday- Gravi(tea)

Flickr is down right now, so I can’t upload a better quality pic right now. Ahhhh, that’s better.  Here is my take on Gravity or Gravitea. Just a really quick little watercolor and ink.

There is a great “virtual” tea party happening called You’re My Cuppa Tea Party & Swap (the swap is optional). If you love tea as much as I do then you should check it out. It was brought to my attention by the ever so lovely Anastasia. Thanks A! Tea Party day will be April 20th.

I’ve also updated the links on my sidebar and on my “Link Lot” page. Check it out. Sooooo many great blogs and websites out there that it makes my head spin with artsy crafting craziness.

Getting Carried Away

That’s me… I tend to get carried away with a lot of things, like for instance…..Halloween. Well, it’s over. No more posts on Halloween- I promise. I’m really mad I tell you!

This little illustration was inspired by last week’s Illustration Friday topic-wind. I didn’t have time to post it before Friday, so here it is now. I’m also using it as my new banner (yes, another one).

Also, a little bit of good news. I will no longer be working night shift (7pm-7am). I am officially a day-shift person now. So excited to get back to a normal sleeping schedule. No more sleeping during the day with the windows covered with sheets, my eyes covered with a bandana and thundering rainfall noise!

Illustration Friday- Quiet

Quiet Night
16 x 20 Acrylic on Canvas

Today is my main squeeze’s birthday.  We spent a quiet day not doing much of anything, but enjoyed it none-the-less.  I guess that’s what you do when you’ve been together for almost 15 years like we have, and are just getting old.  Nah, we’re not THAT old, but we’re getting there.  We just don’t throw a big fuss like we used to about birthdays now that we have kids- for eachother anyways.  Although, I should throw a fuss because he’s one amazing guy and I love him to pieces.  I did get him some yummy Thai take out and a very cool T.  Okay, who am I kidding. HE went and got take out so that he wouldn’t have to endure one of my birthday dinner frenzies where EVERY pot in the house gets used and dirty and the kitchen turns into a disaster zone.  Lets just say that I’ve gotten very carried away in the past and had to spend a good portion of the evening cleaning up my humongo mess. Not this time.  Thai food eaten, containers in the trash- No fuss, No mess.  Besides, my schmoopy is a no fuss, no mess kinda guy.

With no dishes to wash or kitchen to clean, we rushed the kids off to bed, so we could enjoy a nice movie alone.  We watched Paper Clips.  Not really an upbeat, happy birthday kind of movie, but we have lost total controll over our Netflix que and it’s what came in the mail this week.  We have no idea what’s coming next or what’s even on the list.   Anyway, if you have not seen this movie then you must put it on your list and see it.  It is an amazing documentary about a middle school in rural Tennessee that collected a paper clip for every life lost in the Holocaust. It is a very profound lesson on fighting intolerance. Beautifully moving and very well done.

Oh, by the way, that no sleep idea of mine from my last post-  NOT A GOOD ONE.  I went and left the burner on (electric) after making tea that day.  Fortunately, the more responsible adult in the house noticed it  before something really bad happened.  So, note to self :  Do not operate heavy machinery or dangerous appliances with little to no sleep.

Illustration Friday- Farm & Change

Meet Serena. She was living the fast paced life as an editor for a ruthless high fashion magazine. She was working more than 60 hours a week and rubbing elbows with the finest designers until she (oops) found out she was pregnant. Having a baby changed her life. Now she is living in the middle of no where on a sunflower farm living a good and simple life.
