Tucson Museum of Art Show Recap

Tucson Museum Artisan Market

I am having a whirlwind season with art show after art show!  Just finished up art show no. 3 with 2 more to go.  My biggest of all, the Fourth Avenue Street Fair, is in 3 weeks.  I’m excited and nervous because it is estimated that 200,000- 300,000 people go to this show.  Eeeeeks! I’ll be working hard over the next 3 weeks to make sure I have enough cards, banners and art blocks, my biggest sellers.

I’ve been painting a lot of new things over the last month including these new ornaments and wood plank girls.

I am hoping to share more of what I’ve made over the next week.

3×5 Milagro Paintings

Art by Regina Lord

I’ve been prepping for art show #3 this weekend at the Tucson Museum of Art.

Art by Regina Lord

These are 3×5 inch milagro inspired paintings on recycled pallet wood blocks made by Doug at RedeemWood – you can find his work over here on Facebook.  I had the leave the wood exposed on the sides and backs because it is just so beautiful!

****UPDATE 10/2019****

Thank you so much for all the requests, but these are no longer available for purchase. They were made over 4 years ago and they all sold.  I no longer make them and am not able to do special requests for them.  Thank you.

I’m back!

I’m back after an unplanned break. I’ve just finished up with my second art show and was slammed with a nasty cold right after the first. Fortunately, I was super prepared for the first show and didn’t need to do much for the second. I was able to make some ornaments and replenish my stock of cards, prints and banners. Less than two weeks until the next show!

In other exciting news, Phoenix Home and Garden came to my last art show and my home to photograph me, my art and my studio. Very exciting!!  I will be in the 35th anniversary issue coming this January.

Busy, busy, busy

Such a busy week!

Halloween on an art show weekend is killer, but we made it through.  I had to put some Halloween decorations up, especially because they were requested by my youngest. My oldest even told me how cool it was that I do this every year.  So nice to hear!

And, I made it through my first art show of the season. It went very well. There was a bit of rain on Friday, but the rest of the weekend was perfect.

I have another show this weekend! Off to refill my supplies and make more art!!

Moon Magic Art Print

Moon Magic Art by Regina Lord
8.5×11 Art Print available HERE

I’ve always loved the moon and the idea that it can help guide you through the month with accomplishing your goal, intentions and wishes.  I’ve read a lot about it and wanted something visual and pretty to guide me through.

I am a little obsessed with the moon and look for it whenever I go out at night.  I can see it through my studio window, almost every evening as it comes over the horizon. It is magical.

Moon Art by Regina Lord

This is my version of the moon phases and how to set intention using the Moon’s powerful light and energy. Start at the top and work clockwise:

New Moon: Set your intention, goal, wish. Write it down and read it every night.
Waxing Crescent: Visualize the change needed to make your intention a reality.
First Quarter: Take action! during this time, do something that moves you toward your goal.
Waxing Gibbous: Refine and adjust to what happened when you took action.
Full Moon: Celebrate the full moon’s light and look carefully for signs and gifts. Be open to receiving them.
Waning Gibbous: Honor what you have been given, good or bad and give thanks for realizations and lessons learned.
Last Quarter: Release and surrender. Let go of anything not serving you or getting in your way. Surrender to any truths that have come to surface.
Waning Crescent: Restore and reflect. Use this time to replenish, heal and care for yourself. Prepare for starting over with a new intention or continue to move closer to your previous one.

I love little rituals like this. It can be used in a completely light hearted way or help you to seriously look at what you want and need in your life.

Barrio Bones Exhibit

Art by Regina Lord

These were so much fun to make! I found these awesome little frames and knew they needed to be painted.  I wanted them to be bold, graphic and colorful.  They have dimension, lots of color and a bit of sparkle making them perfect for Day of the Dead art.

You can see the shimmery paint better in the photo below.

All three of these will be at Art House Centro in Tucson for the Barrio Bones Exhibit. Opening reception is tonight!  If you are local, I hope to see you there!
