My talented family

I received this beautiful crocheted bracelet and necklace in the mail from my sister, Jo. It’s a late birthday present and well worth the wait.

She also sent my little guy this very cute crocheted cap.

So as I was looking at her beautiful gifts, I started thinking about how talented my family really is. My grandmother sews, quilts and crochets and my grandfather is a bit of an artist. He painted this mural in his family room of Jerome, AZ, where he was born and raised. I believe he painted it when I was about 12 or so. He worked in the copper mines with his 4(?) other brothers.

My mother, also talented in drawing and crafting, was a professional seamstress for many, many moons. She made my junior prom dress the night before prom- I kid you not!! She also just made the most adorable bag and I am kicking myself that I didn’t take a picture when she was visiting last weekend. Then there is my middle sister who made these wonderful gifts and has been crocheting her little heart out the last few weeks. And finally, my youngest sister who is a very very fine violinist. She played for me as I walked down the isle on my wedding day- a very special memory. So there you have it.

We are planning a visit to see my sister Jo in early April. So here is a little message for the guys, Ry Daddy and Uncle Bear: Plan on doing some major babysitting time ‘cuz the girls are going to get our crochet on!!!
