Me Month: The new extension of me

*first, thank you so much for all the birthday wishes and well wishes.  I feel a lot better, thank you.  There were a couple of days with no voice, but I’m almost back to my old self.

Oh, I can’t believe I haven’t posted about this earlier, but I got it as an early birthday gift from my very sweet hubby. It’s a new Canon Power Shot S5IS and I absolutely love it. I was going to get a digital SLR, but this camera has plenty of bells and whistles to keep me very happy for a long while. Plus, it has video recording which is essential for when my little guys are being super-duper cute and funny.

Now that I have this fancy new camera and am learning to use it and because I was inspired by Karyn and Chara Michele, I have been taking part in Project 365. Check out my 365 flickr set. Oh, I think this will throw me back into my early college days when I did nothing but photography. I took 5 semesters of black and white photography and probably spent 75% of my time in the dark room and only peeking out for a small snack of popcorn and soda. I was so healthy back then! Thank goodness my grandmother always made me eat breakfast before leaving the house. That’s what I thrived on, breakfast, popcorn and my Pentax K1000.

Anyway, Kristin has me thinking back even further to my earlier days of being told I looked like certain celebreties. Here it goes….

Junior high: Justine Bateman/Mallory Keaton

High School: Paula Abdul

Early college: Sandra Bullock

It happened all the time, people telling me I looked like one of these three celebrities. It used to really annoy me. I don’t hear it anymore, but just last week I walked into a patient’s room and the first thing she said to me was, “oh my gosh! You look just like Justine Bateman! Has anyone ever told you that?” Talk about a flash back. Uhm, yep. Heard that one before actually.

So, what do you think? Who do you resemble???

I used to look exactly like Olivia Newton-John when I was in high school back in 1976! People would tell me that all the time. Now people tell me I look just like Reba McIntyre. I got so tired of people telling me I look like Reba that I grew my hair out just because I was tired of hearing it. One day, I hope to look like Helen Mirren…

  2. Michelle says:

Totally! Justine Bateman! I *loved* that show, Family Ties. Hee hee. Thanks for the blast from the past…!

ha ha ha, oh my gosh those pictures were so much fun! What a cutie you were/are. You totally look a lot like each of them. Congrats on your new baby! Can’t wait to see more of your awesome photos.
    Hugs,
    a.

Ha! I can see the Justine Bateman resemblance, actually all three but mostly that one. For a short time in junior high people said I looked like Molly Ringwald, which I loved. But really I think it was mostly my hairstyle and dress at that time…

    Happy belated birthday!

Happy Birthday to you and your new camera!
You really do look a lot like those celebrities. I don’t look like anyone famous.
But, that’s OK. I look like my mom and very Norweigian.

love how you put your photo up to each celeb face for comparison…i’m still a wee bit shy to put my mug out there. i totally get Sandra Bullock…it’s right there in your smile.

that was fun…thanks for playing 🙂

  8. Jen says:

    First off–DEFINATELY Sandra Bullock! Wow!
Anyway, I get Renee Zellweger all the time (but from her Bridgett Jones days, not her skinny days!) LOL

  9. cindy says:

Whitney Houston! Ha! I don’t get it either. Unless she used to be short and asian. I’ve come to the conclusion that I am one of those creatures that looks like no one else.

Great idea! My hair isn’t so versatile. I have not been told I look like a celebrity but often people will tell me that I look like someone they know.

  11. Ashley says:

Thanks for the link to Project 365 – I’m TOTALLY doing it (got a new digital SLR for birthday/Christmas)! 🙂
    Thanks!

  12. Loving your 365 photos:) Maybe we can all keep each other motivated throughout the year to keep going on the project:)
I don’t think I have ever been told I look like a celebrity… Although in college, my best friend & I were often mistaken as twins. Which we thought was pretty funny:)

  13. Anastasia says:

love this post!!! you look like all of those celebs – you could be Sandra’s sister!
I got told I look like Sofia Coppola but I cant see the resemblance?!
