Dirt Dumpin’

We’ve spent the last few days working on our front yard.  The hot, hot Southwestern summer weather is approaching us quickly.  So we scraped off the ugly green fish tank rock and had dirt brought in for our new low-maintenance desert landscape.  A drip irrigation system has been put down and we have plants all ready for planting. We had planted two young mesquite trees last year when we moved in to help with shading and cooling of our house.  They still have lots of growing to do.

The sad part will be breaking the news to out little guys that the dirt is really not for a giant sand box in the front yard (although a good idea for the back).  They have really been enjoying the sandy dirt with no shoes and free toes.

I am also doing stuff around the house too.  A little here and a little there.  It should get finished up, eventually.

Yeah for dirt! Dirt being delivered is always a blast. We did it every year out in the country for our raised beds and the kids played in it for weeks till we widdled it down.
I am jealous of your hot sun that you already have.

I have some great memories of playing in the enormous pile of sand that was dumped in our backyard as a kid. It was almost more fun than the sandbox that my parents eventually built for us!

I tagged you with the “6 things about me” meme in my blog. Looking forward to what you have to say!

Are you planting it all yourself? I’m impressed with your stamina. Large scale planting is not something I enjoy. Good luck with it and good for you for doing native planting!
