Pencil case

I had this vision of a cute little pecil case and then I made this:

It’s not what I had in mind.  First of all, it’s a teeny bit hard to open and get the pens/pencil out and it doesn’t a but.  I just HAD to put one on.

I like the fabric a lot though.  And, it still keeps my pens/pencil in one place instead of me having to fish around for them in my purse.  I might have to have another go at it and not make individual pockets  and no button either.  Any suggestions or tutorials that might help with a better design?

What a creative pencil case! If I were to make one, I will keep the individual pockets and add more smaller pockets at the front bottom for erasers or sharpeners 🙂

What a great idea. I really dislike fishing for something to write with in the bottom of my purse. That fabric is fabulous! And yes, I’d keep the individual pockets but just make the top a flap because I’d have to keep the button :o)

  3. I think that design would work fine, if you just didn’t sew down the sides of the little flap. If you could open it all the way, then it would be easy-peasy to get the pens/pencils out AND you would actually need the button!

It might not function the way you wanted it to, but it’s very cute. I love the fabric.

That fabric really is perfect for the pencil case. I agree with Colleen that I don’t think you need to sew down the entire top flap- what about half way so that the pencils still won’t fly out but you can get them out just a tad easier?

I also love the fabric that you used and also it looks really CUTE! I guess you can modify it a bit so that it would be easier to get your pens in and out of the case. Anyway, it’s still really cute.

It reminds me of a crochet hook holder I made with the slots but it folds in half with a ribbon tie around it. I didn’t think of making one for pens! Cute.
