be well

I made some elderberry syrup today. It is said to help prevent illness and can be an effective flu and cold remedy.  I’ve made it before and my kids love it. It is super tasty and it seems to work really well for their coughs.  I give them 1 tsp every few hours when they are sick, 1 tbs for adults.  I made several jars of it, which will h0pefully last us through the winter.

You can see a great video on how to make it HERE.

I also did a little bit of playing in my journal today.  I’m feeling much better, but that cough is still sticking around. I’ll be taking some of that elderberry syrup. This little drawing is to remind me to take better care of myself. My biggest problem is not getting enough rest. I like to stay up way too late, then suffer in the morning when I have to get up early for work, or get the kids ready for school.

I made elderberry cordial this fall (which is like syrup, but a little thinner) thinking I’d save it for cold season, but it’s so yummy I keep eating it! It’s great with a bit of sparkling water and ice, or mixed with some hot water for a warming ‘herbal tea’ type drink. Yum!

I just made a batch of this tonight and it is delicious! Now to see if it helps clear up this cough that I’ve been fighting.

Thanks so much for sharing the video and for introducing me to a new remedy!
