Happy Cinco de Mayo

Cinco de Mayo

Everyday in MayAnother late post for me. 7pm my time.  I was inspired to paint today instead of spending all of my “free” time in front of the computer- imagine that!  Cinco de Mayo being my inspiration today, I decided to do this festive piece.  This painting reminds me of home, Arizona, which is heavily influenced by Mexico, especially southern AZ. There is a great Mexican restaraunt in Tuscon that my husband & I used to go to (before kids) and they always had great mariachi music.

This painting also pays homage to my grandmother and great grandparents who came to America from Mexico to start a new life. Unfortunately, my upbringing was not very influenced by Mexican tradition or culture. I cannot speak spanish and understand very very little. Sad but true. I do however know how to make tortillas and tamales (vegan style of course) so that’s not too bad.

Here is #4 of Everyday in May which I did yesterday.

Hasta luego & have a nice weekend!

Oh I wish we lived closer and we could cook some mean AUTHENTIC mexican food together. Wouldnt that be fun? Oh and I’ll bring the sangria!! 😉
