This week’s topic really had me. I was going to skip it until my husband gave me this idea. A good friend of ours is really into The Day of the Dead. Through him, my husband and I have come to appreciate it as well. So, this is what I came up with.
9 x 7 watercolor & ink
I love this technique. And lends itself well when drawing bones. They look so happy, cheerful, full of cheer. It takes a marriage of ideas to get through an illustration fri, these days, doesn’t. Between fat, tattoo and angels and devils, I am beginning to wonder how the selection is made!
I am fond of Day of the Dead paraphanalia. I used to work in an ethnic gift boutique in Connecticut, during college. We used to get all sorts of fun, funky, and creepy stuff in. I swear some of it was real bones, it was, it had to be, but of what….ooooh……BOO!
Oh and your pitas look delicious. Looks like a fun thing to try.
This is awesome! Great take on the topic!
Very beautiful piece, Regina. The Latinos call it El Dia de Los Muertos. You’re probably the only one that used this idea. I really like your style.
I love day of the dead!!! Love this illo!
This is a great piece for the topic. Well done.
You did a nice job here. I love the little details like the decorated pots.
This has a really zany vibe! I guess it’s the ghostly party goers…it seems very incongruous. I alos love the cacti on either side of the picture…it all comes together to make a delightfully bizarre picture. I really like this a lot! I also love what you did for last weelk’s IMT – the gorgeous vineyard painting. It looks like a dream!
I love the look of this and the concept is great. I considered skipping this one too, but I haven’t missed one in 2006, so I cranked out something I’m not at all happy with. Oh well, maybe next week’s topic will be more inspiring!
Excellent! I love your style!
Great take on the topic. I love me some calaveras too.
I love DOTD stuff, and this lends itself perfectly.
Well done indeed.
Fantastic! I love this one – I love the calaveras!! Wonderful painting!
