Here it is, the famous before shot. I love before shots. An excellent reminder and proof of all our hard work.

It’s not horrible and we definitely could have lived with it if we had to, but we plan on staying in this house for a while. Simply put, we want it how we want it.
The original wood cabinets were covered with laminate, which made them unpaintable, and they had that yucky moldy scent inside. And that tile!!! Need I say more. The floors in this picture are laminate wood. We moved them to another part of the house, so they could be reused, instead of thrown away. We saved and recycled evrything that we could. All the hardware was taken off and given away. The appliances (which were “vintage” and sink were all given away or sold on Craig’s list.
You can see more of the start to finish process HERE.
This is what we have finished so far. We need shelves on the very far right (you can’t see), curtains, trim above the cabinets and kick molding below. We also need to repair the sky light above, which brings in beautiful light during the day. The yellow paint isn’t as bright as it looks in this picture, it’s a bit warmer, and the ceiling is a beautiful shade of sky blue. I love it, I love it, I love it. Bright, cheery and colorful. Exactly how I like things.

I had a look through the other photos and you certainly have done a lot a hard work! Our old kitchen had tiled benchtops too (uuurrrkk. I love the new look; it has a French Country style, I think. Well done!

Looks wonderful! Mine is still in the throes of renovating, with handmade cabinets that still need doors, and trim work that still needs to be done. Oh to be as finished as you are!

OH my goodness Regina - it’s beautiful!!!!!The original stove and oven setup is weird! Cooking on the stove must have felt like you were in a box:)

HOLY SMOKES!!!! Amazing! I love it!
Ya know, Ursula and I are planning to do a “first Sunday” antique exertion. You should come with us. I have never been to that particular antique market but Ursula has many times and from what I have seen of her finds, I am sure it will be amazing. We are thinking May. What do think?

I am remodeling my kitchen right now too. We are about in the same stage. We got new cabinets, new appliances, new granite counter tops and a new tile floor. We are also putting up wood blinds. How expensive everything is!!! I had to live with no kitchen sink for 3 weeks. What a nightmare. I am so glad I can cook at home again. Takeout food was getting pretty old. Anyhow, I love the way your kitchen looks. Now it will be even more fun to cook with nice things surrounding you.

The floors and counter tops are concrete. They (the professional concrete folks) were able to stain the concrete any color we wanted.
