Leah over at Creative Everyday is hosting her annual Art Everyday Challenge. It isn’t restricted to just art either. You can do anything creative that you like. I have been so excited to take part in this challenge and have been counting down the days, prepping and jotting down ideas. I made these wood blocks. Well, actually, the hubby did the cutting and I supervised. I also sanded and drilled holes in the backs for hanging. Had a little piece left over to make the small house shape. My idea is to make some small (5.5 x 5.5 inch) mixed media wood blocks throughout the month of November. I also have several sewing projects on the list as well.
After making those little art tags and small ATC size panels, I decided that I really enjoy working small and thought I’d try doing small on something more substantial like wood.
Now, it will be hard to make something on the days I work, 12 hour shifts will make that difficult, but maybe a simple photo will work on those days. So, I may participate in Maya’s great Black & White photo challenge on work days. I haven’t done much B&W in a long time so it would be fun to revisit the art. I also will be in Oregon in a few days, I think I will be able to squeeze in a million photos of my niece Ruby and of Oregon. If I can’t do something everyday, no worries. The point isn’t to get overwhelmed by the challenge, but instead to enjoy the pure creativeness of it.
Thanks so much for sharing Leah’s site. I just signed up. Can’t wait to see your wood blocks!
That’s a really cool challenge. When I was reading it, I thought I’m way too busy to do that, but you are so right. You don’t need to worry about doing it everyday and being perfect!
I can’t wait to see what you do on the wood. I have checked out the challenge before but I don’t know if I can commit to it. BUT I do think I do something creative everyday anyway so why not?
look at that beautiful pile of wood to play with!! yay!
You’ve inspired me to join the challenge too! Thanks 🙂 I look forward to seeing what you create.
