Artfest 2011 ~ Work Shop 1

I am slowly and unwillingly coming down from my Artfest high. It’s hard to come down from the clouds and touchdown on reality. I am missing my artfest friends, the laughs and sharing. My kindred spirits.

Sigh.

Now on with the artfest story…

My first class was with Misty Mawn and it was called ‘Make it Funky’.  It was the perfect start to the week. A bit of familiarity (I took a class with her last year), lots of fun and some really great people in the class (Hi, Tammy!).

I did three paintings.  They are a bit rough, and now the edges are torn from traveling. I’d love to revisit these ideas on canvas later. I really love the colors Misty uses in her painting, but I don’t think I’ll ever be able to stray from my beloved brights (which is a good thing for me).

Watching Misty in action is really the best part of her classes.  She works fast with crazy intention. I’m a fast painter too, when I’m inspired by a subject. So watching her quietly and quickly work magic into a painting is incredibly fascinating to me.  Very inspiring too!

It’s nice to see pictures of you. Your hair has gotten so long! I keep thinking about going to a retreat- but I’m not sure what holds me back. Maybe if I go to one with you? DO you want to go to Squam? Or Art& Soul in Portland?

ps…the horse in the background looks like my horse- I often add wings to him, too.
