My last class was with Lynn Parrella. She asked that we not take pictures during class 🙁 but the techniques I learned from her class were completely worth it. We covered a lot of different methods and we needed to focus. The class was called ‘Foreign Intrigue’. We had to pick an intriguing person as a focus for her class. Of course I picked Frida.
I was completely blown away by Lynn’s teaching methods and her view of making art. She really is quite amazing. We used inexpensive materials with wonderful results. One of the first things I did when I got home, was get some more of the supplies we used so Icould make another, smaller Frida.
The piece we worked on in class(top pictures) was pretty large, 20″ x 36″. I had to roll it up and put it in my suitcase, so it was a bit ripped and mangles by the time I came home. I tried fixing it the best I could with a bit of matte medium and extra gesso on the back. I have no idea what to do with it now. It’s so big and I don’t have the wall space to hang it.
Tomorrow I will share some awesome trades that I received.
Love your Fridas! The second is my favorite!! It is perfect from the symmetry to the colors – bravo!
😀

Beautiful pieces. Seeing all of your work makes me realize what an incredibly intense experience this must have been. So much learning, so much thinking, so many techniques…I can’t imagine trying to absorb it all. Must have been amazing!
I would gladly find room on my wall for it. These are beautiful. Andria is on to something, this looks like an intense time.

Hi! I’ve enjoyed reading your posts about artfest- I haven’t been able to attend personally, living on the east coast with three kids and an art retreat in Connecticut to keep me at peace. The only thing is that I would love, love, love to take a Lynne Perrella class and she hasn’t taught at Art-is-You as of yet. So, I am drooling all over your creation (well, my keyboard, I guess) and loving all of the colors and layers! What a beautiful job you have done.
Frida… my favorite!
Lovely art piece :]
