gold stars for school

It has been dreadfully hot around here. 105 degrees, humid, uck! This is the hardest part of the year for me. My mind is starting psychologically cool down, but the weather isn’t quite there yet. We still have another month (maybe two) to go before we get to start enjoying “fall” weather.  I cannot wait!!  They are predicting a drop to 99 degrees by next Wednesday.  Whooopeee! Well, it is preferable to what is predicted for tomorrow: 108!!!

So it rained a couple of nights ago, for an entire 15 minutes, which seemed reason enough for me to do some baking.  The kids are wanting their baked goodies for lunch, but I haven’t wanted to turn the oven on much. So, I decided I’d do a quick baking session and make some gold star crackers in stead of gold fishies, which seemed more fitting with school starting, and all.

Anyway, the recipe is easy enough and the kids LOVED them.  I’ll be making them again, maybe in a couple of months.

You are a far braver and better mom than me, it’s 103 here today and there is no way I’m even going near my oven. No way! Those crackers sure do look good, though. Here’s hoping it cools down significantly for both of us very soon!

Oh you are a good mom- hope you gave yourself a star too!! maybe make some ice cube shaped ones and put them in long cool drink!! I remember temps.like this when i lived for a time in Mediterranean.as a child-phew!

Whew! Stay cool in that heat. I grew up in San Antonio, but now I wonder how I survived it! We have a hurricane cooling our temps in Philadelphia now…not sure that’s a good trade-off, though! Enjoy your star crackers; my girls LOVE star shapes, so they would be right up their alley.
