see how my garden grows

Check out our garden!!   It is so amazing to me that we are growing beautiful and delicious food in our back yard. I have been able to pick lots of lettuce, spinach and kale on a regular basis and it is still growing! And I’m finally getting to really use my harvest basket.

In Tucson, where it is seasonably warmer than most places, it is recommended that everything be planted close together for better protection (at least that is what we were told).  Unfortunately we’ve had a few nights of almost freezing temperatures and our poor cabbage has started bolting, which is sad.  It was so big and beautiful (and almost taking over our entire garden).  All is not lost though — I guess we could still eat the cabbage plant leaves. Everything else is completely thriving.

We have snap peas and potatoes just starting to grow too and will be starting cucumbers by seed this weekend.  We are addicted and are having so much fun with our little garden. Wish you could come by and share a big green salad with me!

What a beautiful garden, all my favorites! and the basket is so lovely ~ it would be a great basket to carry anything large. It’s darn cold up here in Portland ~ 37 degrees this morning. While I love the cold and rainy weather, I’m really looking forward to the summer and sun.

Oh lovely garden- with the cabbage you could try a trick my Grandad told me; you cut off the cabbage but leave to root and stem in the ground and score a cross in the top of the stem(about half an inch) keep watering and feeding and you get little cabbages growing from the stem. hope this makes sense-it might work for you-it has for me.x
