Red, Red Wine
Mixed media on 18 x 24 canvas.
(sold~ Thank you!)
I thought I had grabbed a 16 x 20 inch canvas from my stash, but instead I grabbed an 18 x 24 and didn’t realize it until I had finished the painting. I kept thinking it was so big! I’m glad though. I like to have at least one big paintings at my shows.
I am so happy with how this one turned out. I figured out that the best way to tackle a huge canvas is to not know it’s big (ha ha) and to do small sections at a time. After canvas prep, I did the face first (my favorite part), then the shirt, the the flower vase, etc. The orange blocks of color were added last to break up the red.
I might try to get one more painting in before Friday, but not sure yet. Feeling pretty zapped. We’ll see!
Beautiful painting! I love it!
