My baby sister is with child. Yay!! Very exciting. That means lots of baby sewing/crafting to come. In my family, it is tradition for the women to be incredibly nauseous during the first trimester. I puked, at least once a day, for the first four months of both of my pregnancies and my other sister ended up in the hospital a couple of times for excessive puking and dehydration. Lovely, huh? Well, my youngest sister has managed to skip the puking thus far, but definitely has the queezies and no appetite. I decide to send her a little care package in the mail to help her through this rough period. It included this book, saltines, tums, mints, gum, ginger tea, mini tooth brush and tooth paste, and snack mix (chocolate, nuts, dries raspberries). All of this in a little zipper pouch so she could take it to work with her. I forgot to photograph it all before sending it off. It was supposed to be a mother’s day gift, but my time management is totally messed up right now and it only made it to her today. Above is the cards I made and sent with it.
Her wonderful husband also has exciting news. Besides being a soon-to-be father, he has graduated from nursing school and is a full fledged RN!! Very exciting for me, because he likes all that cardiac stuff. Now HE can answer all of my family’s questions about heart medications and heart disease. Me? I like to stick with questions about pregnancy, labor, delivery, post-partum, babies, kids and breastfeeding. Anything else and I haven’t a clue. For his graduation gift, we sent him camping stuff, hence the woodland bear.
They are both headed for grand adventures!
What fantastic news! Totally inspired by your anti-puke gift bag, billiant idea. My best friend really suffered through her first four months and now has only 4 weeks to go!
What exciting news – that is so wonderful for all of you!! The cards are GREAT!!!

I just found your site and I love it. I also love sewing machines in cabinets…my grandmother has one and they remind me of her-the one who taught me to sew!

Well, congratualiations all around. I hope your sister feel better soon and can enjoy the pregancy. Good luck with the sewing for the baby.
Congrats to your sister and her husband! How exciting all the way around!! I took my bag with me yesterday to a family picnic, the bag I received from you on the lunch box swap (I used it for my crocheting though), anyway, everyone loved it!
