Waiting ~ art by Regina Lord

This was a late night painting, a few nights ago, when I thought I was feeling better (see below). I stayed up a little too late painting this pretty girl and liked her so much that I got a special little mat for her to make her look extra special.

For those of you who don’t follow me on FB, I’ve had a very persistent and cruel cough for over a week now. I finally went to the doc yesterday, which I HATE doing, but I was pretty miserable not having had much sleep. I found out that I have acute bronchitis progressing to mild pneumonia. Ugh!! So, for the first time in 7 years, I am very happily taking some antibiotics.

I wrote this almost two years ago on my blog when my youngest had pneumonia. It is totally how I feel now:

“For a nurse, I am pretty anti medication and will turn to nutritious foods, herbs, teas and tonics first.  I always trust that our bodies will do what they need to do to reach health and homeostasis. When it doesn’t work that way, I worry, worry, worry, wondering what I did or didn’t do.”

I spend a lot of time working hard to take care of myself. This cough has been like a rug pulled out from under me. I don’t know how it got so bad. But, I will get back on track — I feel the end is in sight!

Hi Regina. Hope the anti-biotics kick in quick and you soon feel much better. Detox afterwards. (lots of people around me getting the flu too – hope it skips me). I love the new painting – looks fab in the mat.

  2. I am very anti medications (can’t remember the last time I took antibiotics) but sometimes you just need them. Judicious use of medication is why we all live longer now, but I’m sure you’re like me, and don’t believe a pill is the answer to everything!
Hope you feel better soon, a persistent cough is very exhausting.
I’ve already said how much I love your painting, looks even more fabulous in a mat.

Beautiful painting, she looks so lovely!
Do hope you’re feeling better soon and glad you went to the doctor. I’m not one for medication either ~ sometimes it’s needed. Glad you’re taking care of yourself!

I really enjoy your blog and love looking at your art. Sorry that you are not feeling too well, I hope that horrible cough goes away really soon. I don’t ever go to the doctors, partly because I don’t need to but I mostly prefer to use herbal teas etc. But when you need to go, you do. All the best and wishing you all better very soon.

The girl in your painting looks very serene and thoughtful. Beautiful!

Oooh, hope you feel better soon. Coughs are such ornery creatures, they do hang on! Sending healing, restful thoughts your way. I think of you often and always read and cheer you (and your art) on, even when I don’t have time to write or blog. Hopefully summer will be slower…

Hey Regina! Too bad all of those “ab crunches” you do with all that wicked coughing don’t seem to have any impact (certainly not in my case – Ha!). I’m an RN also and that stuff is going around – so good for you for giving your body a chance to fight it off, but sometimes your body needs a little help and a little extra oomph. I’m with you on the medication front – I take supplements and the only thing I have in my medicine cabinet is Tylenol & Ibuprofen. I whole-heartedly recommend probiotics – I believe a happy gut also has a lot to do with a happy immune system. Rest, laughter, and art are the BEST medicine – Feel better soon!
