Playground

GTS-logov2-300x286Nature is my Playground, Art by Regina Lord
Playground

This is my submission for Lila Roger’s Global Talent Search.  I signed up to participate several weeks ago and almost didn’t submit anything.

At the last minute I decided to jump in and just do it. I stayed up late Sunday night, got up early Monday morning to finish and submit this painting, just in the nick of time.

As soon as I hit the submit button, my internal demons started going wild. Especially after doing a search and seeing a few other submissions.  My immediate thought was that my art wasn’t good enough, not modern enough, not digital. That I went too far with my own interpretation of the theme.

I finally stopped myself and realized that I really like my painting–a lot. It is totally Me! And that is all that really matters. To me, my painting represents the blooming and thriving imagination of childhood. When everything is bigger than life. When the great outdoors, or even your own bedroom, can be it’s own special playground.

So there it is. It is out of my hands now. I release it to the unknown, happy that I was able to paint and play with this fun theme.

first of all, this painting is wonderful! it’s carefree, vibrant, and sweet (it would be beautiful hanging in a library or office where children visit – it makes me feel happy and calm). and second of all, KUDOS to you for stepping through a process and putting your work out there – that is walking through vulnerability and finding strength…and sharing your story only makes all the more inspiring to others. beautiful work!!
